Scott Clemons

Brown Brothers Harriman

Scott Clemons joined Brown Brothers Harriman in 1990 and has held a variety of investment roles at the firm over the past 27 years. His career began in international equities, where he was a analyst and portfolio manager of European and Asian equities, working out of the firm’s New York and London offices throughout the 1990s. In 2001, Mr. Clemons broadened his responsibilities into domestic equity management and research as well. From 2005 through 2010, he managed the New York office of the firm’s Private Wealth Management business. In 2010, he was appointed Chief Investment Strategist and is today one of the firm’s primary writers and speakers on topics related to the economy, financial markets and investing. Mr. Clemons is a frequent contributor to print and broadcast media, appearing in the pages of The Wall Street Journal and Barrons, as well as on CNBC and Bloomberg TV. He is a CFA charterholder and a member of the New York Society of Security Analysts and the CFA Institute.

Outside of his professional interests, Mr. Clemons serves as the President of the Grolier Club in New York City and as a board member of the Research Corporation for Science Advancement, the oldest foundation in the United states dedicated to basic scientific research. He is also a director of the Journal of the History of Ideas.

Born and raised in Florida, he graduated magna cum laude from Princeton University with an A.B in classics. He lives in Manhattan with his wife, Karyn, a music teacher at the Brearley School. They are proud parents of young twins.

Bill Thomas



William R. “Bill” Thomas was appointed Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of EOG Resources, Inc.,
in January 2014. Prior to that, he served as President and Chief Executive Officer from July through
December 2013, and as President from September 2011 to July 2013. Mr. Thomas previously held other
leadership positions at EOG, including Senior Executive Vice President, Exploitation and Senior
Executive Vice President, Exploration. Mr. Thomas has been with EOG and its predecessor companies
for 38 years.

Recognized for his technical expertise in shale oil development, he previously served as the General
Manager of EOG’s Fort Worth, Texas, Midland, Texas and Corpus Christi, Texas offices, where he was
instrumental in the successful identification, exploration, development and exploitation of various key
resource plays. Mr. Thomas joined an EOG predecessor company in 1979 and held a number of technical
positions including district geologist, senior exploration geologist and production geologist. He started
his career as a district engineer at an oilfield services company.

Throughout his career, Scott Klososky has been on the forefront of technology and industry.  He is renowned globally for his ability to recognize and capitalize on future trends regarding the ways technology is shaping business and our world.

He is currently invested in guiding leaders through the digital transformation.  Scott is the founder and principle of technology consulting firm Future Point of View.  Scott regularly advises C-suite executives inside some of the nations’ most recognizable organizations.  He also works with organizations of different sizes and industries to assess and improve their digital maturity.

Scott has developed the innovative concept of HUMALOGY ®, the blending of technology and humanity.  Humalogy provides a framework on how leaders can best balance technology and human effort to make processes more efficient and effective.

As a speaker, Scott entertains while enlightening audiences around the world on a range of topics including cybersecurity, leadership, data intelligence, trendspotting, digital marketing and injecting the right amount of technology into every process.  He has developed a reputation for delivering presentations that leave attendees talking and thinking long after they have ended.

For much of his career, Scott has been devoted to helping organizations protect their digital assets and pilot what is becoming an increasingly critical area for the health and survival of all: cybersecurity.  He is a co-owner of TriCorps Cybersecurity which provides a host of cybersecurity services including audits and assessments, vulnerability testing, forensics, remediation and team member training.  He has spoken in front of the FBI’s Cyber Warfare Conference and the Federal Government for Financial Accountants.


Jason Sanders

SVP and Provost

OU Health Sciences Center

Jason R. Sanders, MD, MBA serves as the Senior Vice President and Provost of the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center, with overall responsibility for its seven colleges and clinical, educational, and research programs. He also serves on the Governing Committee for OU Medical System and the University Hospitals Authority and Trust Board, to promote integration across the healthcare delivery system.

Dr. Sanders maintains a clinical practice in Internal Medicine with OU Physicians. He teaches medical students and residents at OU Medical Center, as well as courses in inter-professional practice, literature and medicine, and the business of medicine. He also is a member of the Stephenson Cancer Center Leadership Council, the Dean McGee Eye Institute Board, the Greater Oklahoma City Chamber Board, and the Oklahoma Health Center Foundation Board.

Dr. Sanders graduated with honors from the University of Oklahoma with a B.S. in Biochemistry in 2000. He was selected as a Rhodes Scholar to the prestigious Trinity College, Oxford University and received a Master of Arts in English Language and Literature in 2003. He graduated from Harvard Medical School and Harvard Business School with distinction in 2008, and was Harvard University’s first combined MD/MBA program graduate. Dr. Sanders completed residency training in Internal Medicine at Massachusetts General Hospital, and during that time worked with health system leaders on care redesign and population health initiatives. He also gained experience in the private sector as a consultant with McKinsey & Company, a leading international consulting firm, focusing his practice on major health care organizations, including hospitals, payors, and pharmaceutical companies.

He lives with his wife Tammy and two sons in Oklahoma City.

Bo Kong

Bo Kong is the ConocoPhillips Petroleum Professor of Chinese and Asian Studies and Assistant Professor at the University of Oklahoma’s College of International Studies.

He is also Senior Fellow of the Foreign Policy Institute of the Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS), Senior Associate in the Energy and National Security Program of the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS), member of the Advisory Board for the Revenue Watch Institute, member of the International Editorial Board for the Universiti of Kebangsaan Malaysia’ journal—JEBAT: Malaysian Journal of History, Politics, and Strategic Studies, and member of the ChinaFAQs Expert Group.

Prior to assuming the position at the University of Oklahoma, he was Assistant Research Professor of the Energy, Resources, and Environment (ERE) program at the Johns Hopkins University SAIS and directed the Program’s research on East Asia. He also built and ran the School’s Global Energy and Environment Initiative (GEEI).  Previously, he had three visiting fellowships, including Visiting Scholar at the Institute for Global Dialogue (IGD) in South Africa, Research Fellow at the Center for Global Security of the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL), and Research Associate at the Shanghai WTO Affairs Consultation Center. In addition, he also provided consulting services to the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) on Chinese mineral investments in the Congo River Basin and the Mekong River Basin and advised the Hess Corporation on its strategy in China.

With a B.A. in international trade from the Nankai University in China, he earned from the Johns Hopkins University SAIS his M.A. in American Foreign Policy and Economics and Ph.D. in China Studies. He is the author of China’s International Petroleum Policy (Santa Barbra, California: Praeger Security International, 2010). Currently, his teaching and research interests focus on four themes: 1) U.S.-China Relations; 2) Geopolitics of Energy; 3) Energy, Environment and Climate Change in China; and, 4) Chinese Foreign Policy and China’s Global Quest for Resources.

Shelley Lavender

Senior Vice President

Boeing Company

Shelley Lavender is senior vice president of Strike, Surveillance and Mobility (SSM), a division within Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS), and the St. Louis senior executive. SSM is one of the world’s largest providers of military airpower, serving the United States and allied nations, while continuing to expand globally with steady growth in international sales.

As senior vice president, Lavender manages execution and growth of a portfolio of strike-fighter, surveillance and mobility platforms including the F/A-18E/F Super Hornet, EA-18G Growler, F-15 Eagle, P-8 Poseidon and executive fleet airplanes. She also leads the team responsible for the modernization and modification of several U.S. Department of Defense and international aircraft programs, including various surveillance and reconnaissance, head of state and bomber aircraft.

In addition to leading SSM, Lavender serves as the BDS Program Management leader and works across the enterprise to drive operational improvements leading to world class quality, safety and performance.

Prior to this role, Lavender led the former Boeing Military Aircraft organization within BDS, which included four divisions: Mobility, Surveillance and Engagement; Global Strike; Autonomous Systems; and Vertical Lift. She has also been the vice president and general manager of Integrated Logistics, focused on providing readiness and after-delivery support for a wide variety of military platforms and systems.

Earlier in her career, Lavender served as vice president and general manager of Global Strike, where she was responsible for the execution and growth of a portfolio of strike-fighter and attack helicopter platforms. Her other leadership positions include serving as the vice president/chief engineer for BMA and as program manager for the F/A-18E/F Super Hornet, where her responsibilities included all aspects of program performance including development and production. She was also the director of Tactical Aircraft Integrated Product Teams and the F/A-18 chief engineer.

Lavender began her aerospace engineering career at Hughes Aircraft Company in El Segundo, Calif., in 1986, as an engineer on the F-15 APG-70 radar program. She joined Boeing in 1988 as an avionics engineer. Over the years she has held a variety of positions of increasing responsibility, including program manager for the T-38 Avionics Upgrade Program and director of Tactical Aircraft Mission Systems in St. Louis.
