EAST CENTRAL UNIVERSITY

Saul Padilla

Major: Business Management
 

Saul Padilla is a first-generation student from Antlers, Oklahoma and is pursuing a Bachelor of Business Administration degree with a concentration in Management.

Outside the classroom, Saul has engaged in multiple leadership roles at East Central University; roles within the University Honors Program, Student Government Association, and Business Leaders Association, ECU's largest business club. He has been recognized for his academic efforts, recently being inducted into the Alpha Chi Honor Society, and the Delta Mu Delta Business Honor Society.

Saul plans on pursuing a career in academia following his goal of a master's degree and PhD. He credits this career path on the faculty who have guided him through his studies and hopes to help guide others in the same manner. Following this academic year, he will be interning for the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City-Oklahoma City Branch as a Regional Affairs Economics Intern. During this time, he hopes to lay the groundwork for his honors thesis researching the economic impact and responses to the Covid-19 pandemic.

 

LANGSTON UNIVERSITY

Xavier Montrey Douglas

Major: Business Finance
 

Xavier Douglas is a Finance major from Fort Worth, Texas. He’s currently attending Langston University with the assistance of the prestigious McCabe Honors Program. He’s a member of the university’s scholars club and has tutored in the Langston University Writing Center. He recently accepted a great internship opportunity at Hormel Foods in Austin, Minnesota where he will be working in their recently established finance department.

 

OKLAHOMA BAPTIST UNIVERSITY

Nathaniel Anderson

Major: Business Finance
 

Nate grew up in Owasso, Oklahoma where he was an adamant sports competitor. This led him to accept a scholarship to play football at Oklahoma Baptist University where he is pursuing a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance.

When he does not find himself in the classroom, on the field, weight room, or film study, he is investing in his academic and athletic career.

Nate enjoys being a part of a number of different activities including Salt and Light Leadership Training program, mentoring fellow students in the school of business through the student success center, and furthering his knowledge in the field of finance.

This semester Nate was inducted into Delta Mu Delta Business Honor Society and has been invited to attend the Oklahoma Student Leadership Forum. He is also beyond thrilled to join the MidFirst Bank Internship Program this upcoming summer.

Everything Nate finds himself a part of, he believes shape his future and give him the tools to advance the Kingdom of God through his calling. His career goals are to invest in his community through real estate development, bringing together others who have a similar vision to see the world around them transformed, starting with its physical appearance and infrastructure.

 

OKLAHOMA CHRISTIAN UNIVERSITY

Mikayla Phillips

Major: Business Administration, Entrepreneurship
 

Mikayla Phillips is a Junior Business Administration Major with a minor in Entrepreneurship and has earned a 4.0 GPA at Oklahoma Christian.

In addition to being a star performer in the classroom, Mikayla is the founding president of the Oklahoma Christian University Entrepreneurship club. Her responsibilities include strategic planning and the important role of serving as the student liaison with Tinker Air Force Base in the strategic partnership they have with the university's entrepreneurship program.

She is a board member of OC’s Women Who Lead chapter and is responsible for the chapter’s marketing as well as a member of OC’s President’s Leader’s Class. Her leadership skills have served her well as a certified lifeguard instructor.

 

OKLAHOMA CITY UNIVERSITY

Samuel A. Hurt

Major: Finance
 

Sam is from Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and is a first-generation college student pursuing a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance. He is a Meinders Business Leadership Fellow and active member of the Investment Club, which manages $100,000 provided by Mr. Meinders each year.

Along with 4 other students, he represented OCU in the 2023 CFA Institute Research Challenge. Sam plans to pursue a career in Banking after graduation. After gaining experience in the work environment, he plans on entering an MBA program with a concentration in Finance. His career goal is to work at a foreign exchange desk at a major banking institution.

 

OKLAHOMA STATE UNIVERSITY

Molly Wilson

Major: Economics
 

Originally from Howe, Texas, Molly is an economics major at Oklahoma State University.

She is involved in the McKnight Scholars program and an active member of her sorority, Kappa Alpha Theta. After graduation she plans to attend law school in Texas where she will pursue her goal of specializing in agricultural law.

 

SOUTHERN NAZARENE UNIVERSITY

Asa Robertson

Major: Business Management
 

Asa Robertson was born and raised in Madill, Oklahoma. He is pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management, and, upon graduation, plans to continue his educational endeavors by earning a Master of Arts in Sports Management and Administration from Southern Nazarene University.

Asa is a leader within the campus community, including membership in the School of Business Investment Club. He loves sports and participates in athletics as a wide receiver on the football team, and he hopes to join SNU's competitive bowling league next year. A fun fact about Asa is that he has bowled a perfect 300 game.

While attending college, Asa has managed his own successful lawn care business and has worked closely with his father who owns multiple small businesses in the Texoma area. He hopes to use what he has learned in the classroom and on the field to eventually work as a front office member for an NFL team. Asa holds his faith in Christ above all else in his life, which is evident by his integrity, work ethic, and concern for others.

 

UNIVERSITY OF CENTRAL OKLAHOMA

Emma Janes

Major: Economics
 

Originally from Wellston, Oklahoma, Emma attends the University of Central Oklahoma majoring in Economics and minoring in Psychology. She is a very active volunteer for Diabetes Solutions of Oklahoma, and following her graduation she plans to continue working and volunteering for non-profits in the financial planning sector.

Emma thanks the Economic Club of Oklahoma for this scholarship. As Emma said, "Because of your kind investment in my future, I am one step closer to achieving my dreams. Thank you so much. Your kindness will be remembered by me forever."

 

UNIVERSITY OF OKLAHOMA

Carson Poupore

Major: Economics, Political Science
 

Carson Poupore is a junior from Chaska, MN, studying Economics, Political Science, and Business Management on a Pre-Law track at the University of Oklahoma. Following his graduation next year, he plans on attending a top-25-ranked law school to receive his J.D. and practice law with a focus in corporate affairs.

Carson aspires to serve as a corporate lawyer or governmental affairs professional out of law school and additionally hopes to run for political office someday on the local, state, or federal level.

While in college, Carson has participated on the executive level of Student Government Association, the JCPenney Leadership Program, and PIKE. He also has been an active member and ambassador of the Price College of Business Ambassador Program, the Honors Student Association, OUDM, The Big Event, the Capitol Scholars Program, and the Pre-Law Scholars Program.

To Carson, a scholarship from the Economics Club of Oklahoma represents fantastic and new opportunities to support his economic and policy learnings, research, and interests. He is incredibly grateful to the Economics Club of Oklahoma for investing in his future and looks forward to connecting with the organization and its members further!
